Many organisations in the UK are showing how charitable they are during the festive season by giving shoe boxes filled with gifts for people less fortunate. Many British schools, charities and churches are using a shipping carton to transport lots of boxes to children abroad who are not as privileged and are living in a less developed country (LDC). The goods in the boxes range from toys and food, to school supplies and hygiene items, and they vary for small babies who are born into poverty, to teenage boys and girls who have few luxuries.
The cartons are shipped overseas via excess baggage companies and they are left at drop-off points in needy countries like Kenya, Serbia, Zimbabwe and Belarus. Help a child in poverty this Christmas time and join the shoebox appeal and change someone’s life for the better. Taking part is really simple and all a Brit needs to do is find an empty shoe box and decide who they are packing for. Ages range from 2- 14 years-old and then just fill the boxes with lots of lovely gifts to put a smile on a disadvantaged child’s face. Ideas include toothbrush and tooth paste, dolls, earrings, hats, scarfs and puzzle books. The only limitations are that no liquids are allowed, or anything that can melt and nothing can be in relation to war like a toy gun.
